These photos were taken during the 36th Chess Olympiads, in Calvia (Majorca, Spain) from October 14 to 31, 2004. Alexandra Kosteniuk, on the first board of the Russian Team, did a very good 7/11 (ELO performance 2539), including a win against World Chess Champion Stefanova for the second time in 2004.

On October 14, the whole Russian team arrives in Palma de Majorca for one of the most important competitions in the world: the Olympiads | The poster of the Olympiads was to be seen all over the island | A large pawn (the mascot of the Calvia Olympiads) greets us | Alexandra demonstrates her preparation - her nails are painted in the colors of the Russian flag, it's normal, she will play for her country! |
